I like what I see.

The Members page looks good but I can see Malcolm's concerns. How about listing the members alphabetically for ease of search, also perhaps is it possible to collapse the the items into list form groups which expand to the nice looking tiles with a click? Maybe make the tiles a little bit smaller to help with page view?

How about changing the forum posts default order to latest post at the top?

My apologies, I've just seen the option to change your view to alphabetical on the members page. I still think it's the best default though.

I agree with Mick that the Members page looks great as it is. My only reservation is about the size of the tiles - can they be made a bit smaller to get more on a page?

It sounds like everybody likes Youzer so I'm going to buy it. I think it does a major job of improving the site. I'll check out the styling options for the members list page. The theme we put on top of it will have an impact on that too, so we probably need to decide on that first.

Since nobody really discusses any of putting a site together, there's a lot of coding that goes on, but you can buy most of it pretty reasonably. You get the site as close as possible to what you want, then you hand code the rest. If you had to do the whole mess on your own it would take forever. A lot of tweaks to the original coding may not take coding either - there's usually some configuration you can do that is visual rather than working with code. That's all on the backend of the site.

So what I am doing right now is determining all the pieces we will use to get us hopefully 90% of the way there. That will add functionality pretty quickly. When I get down to modifying code, that will be a lot slower.

OK, Olympus Theme is installed along with Youzer and all the other recommended plugins. What comes next is a heck of a lot of tweeking.

Hi guys, my name is Debbie and I go by DebbieJo. I have worked on several web sites as an Admin and have enjoyed the process. No big back story to tell. I guess I am like the WYSIWYG Editor. Nice to meet everyone.

On the members list issue. There is a plugin that can add a member type to members that would help divide up that list. It's fairly low on the priority list at the moment with 13 members, but how I am envisioning things long term is that most people will be here for specific reasons, work mainly within groups, and can self define what their interests are. That will add a member type filter to the page.

Though frankly until we get at least 100 members I'm not going to spend a whole lot of time worrying about it. Until that time the active ones will all be on the first page or two.

Buddyboss is indeed running a 30% off Black Friday sale, so I am going to pick up the blog and wall plugins. I'll also work on updating the site over the Thanksgiving weekend. Now to see if the bling plugins are having a sale 😉

All the parts are pretty much in place now. A lot of customizing/organizing/setting up to do. I think what I'd like you doing Varik is thinking about what we need to set up BOTS and comics here. Not the final contest, I'd have to have contests running for that and that still is a bit down the road, but the month long part. I also need some input as to what the front page should look like. I still envision this place as having most of the activity taking place inside of groups, rather than everything flowing to a site activity stream.

I assume the BotS and Comics will not actually go live while they are still running on Dagger Bay. I think it might be an idea to set up a way for members to upload their own work to their own public folder, something like Deviant Art, with contests an optional extra, instead of making contests the only way of uploading material. The weekly Comics might work well in this format, with other members able to comment on entries. I think we would need to have very clear guidelines for the kind of content allowed on the site - a lot of stuff on Deviant Art now is blatantly pornographic, and I wouldn't like to see that happening here!

As for the front page, could we have a colourful banner across the top with images representing the various groups that are invisaged being created here? The pictures could either be in the form of a collage or combined into one image representing all groups. Then, below that, a general statement of the site's purpose and links (possibly images?) to the various groups where more detailed information is available.

These are just random thoughts to be tossed around with the aim of coming to some sort of final decision when everyone has had their say.

I was looking to have about the same rules as Dagger Bay and Worth in that regard. Porn has it's place on the Internet. I would prefer it not to be here. Since we are also going to be a social site though, we can't restrict people to posting only things they have created outside of the contest group.

I don't want to move anything off Dagger Bay as long as it is operational, I need to have as much of the functionality ready here as possible for when it does go down, and if Jon didn't set up automatic renewal of the domain name, that might happen in January. If it's still around in February we are safe from that particular threat for another year, though owner verification is going to need to happen at some point.

As far as groups, suggestions from the general group here would be appreciated. Obviously some can be added later (pretty much anyone can start one) but what are the general types of groups of people we are trying to attract?
