Fuck Me, Even Dreamlight Joined the AI Bandwagon

I've joined their AI Art Club. I might not learn anything new, but I'm definitely interested in learning about Val's approach to enhancing Daz renders with AI, and $10/month is a great deal.

He's had some interesting stuff over the years, and this is probably the direction DAZ needs to go if it wants to stay relevant. I'd be interested in hearing what he's doing, I imagine its some of image prompt inpainting.

I never really considered Dreamlight a 3D creator, more a 2D and effects person. They have a ton of HDRIs and Photogrammetry assets over at renderhub. Then again, I am a fan of any DAZ PA that embraces AI, LOL

He's got a lot of items with 3D Geometry over at DAZ, of course I don't know if he employs a modeler for those, his expertise does seem to be camera placement and lighting. And he has been around about as long as DAZ itself, I was a member of his club way back when. He's always up to something, the guy is a marketer.

Ok, just watched the video and honestly, there is nothing in it that I haven't tried or been doing with renders already. He leaves out the most important part IMO, what AI tools he is using and how to use them.
In the comments section on YT when asked what AI tools he uses he says
"Hey thanks a bunch! I've tried various models, including Google Veo 2 (can't use Veo 3 in Sweden yet), but currently diving mostly into Kling, although the tool is just one piece of the puzzle. Knowing what to feed it, how to control it, how to direct your animation and camera, and how to take it from concept to cinematic, that’s where the magic happens. And that’s exactly what I show in the training"

No, the magic happens with the finished product IMO. This just seems like a money grab more than a learning course

Like Otto wrote, Val is quite the marketer, and he knows there's demand for Daz-specific training. Money grab or no, he's done a helluva lot more for Daz artists than Daz themselves have in terms of teaching people how to use their app. Case in point, there's still no official manual for the damned thing.

Ok, here's a rundown of the club:

There are 13 tutorial videos in the club - 7 under Main Content, 6 under Bonus Content.

For Daz users looking for simple ways to add AI to their workflow, his approach could prove useful. The club is particularly aimed at artists who don't have high-end GPUs - namely 40x series cards. To that end, he doesn't use local installs of AI apps like Stable Diffusion and ComfyUI. He uses commercial WebUIs, including Magnific and Animate AI, to enhance and then animate Daz renders. His reasoning - as tied to the club's marketing - is that WebUIs are cheaper than buying a high-end GPU for the cost of what could otherwise be used as a down-payment on a used car.

Here's an outline of the club's syllabus:

Main Content

From Daz to Cinematic AI Videos - Overviev
Using Magnific AI for Making Daz Renders Cinematic
Using Artificial AI Studio to Animate
Using Topaz Video AI to Upscale to 4K and Create Slowmotion

I just skimmed through all 13 videos and, as predicted, there's nothing in the club that can't be learned for free on YT and simply adapted for use with Daz. What Dreamlight has done is taken hundreds of lessons taught for free by dozens of YouTubers over the last 3 years, condensed and packaged them into their own Daz-specific AI course for Daz users. There is nothing wrong with that, but, again, there's nothing in the curriculum that I don't already know how to do. Therefore, I've canceled my membership.

Good breakdown Nyghtfall! Wasn't trying to diminish Dreamlights work, I have a ton of his products, I just feel like his enthusiasm for AI is where we were at 2 years ago. On a positive, you posting on the DAZ forum and his credibility in the community might bring some new DS users to AI
I have to agree with him on the web based app over local. I have a 4080 and can't run the full on dev version of flux in forge, so I have to use MimiPC version of Forge and it's pretty fast
