Magic Act Rehersal

Is someone going to be sliced in half?
In hindsight I probably should have written some storyline in case the spinning sawblade wasn't obvious (there's just no easy way to make a circular sawblade spin in Daz Studio which is why I created the blade in Poser then pasted it in post-edit).

The backstory: Ann is the magician's assistant all dressed up in her costume for opening night. The other lingerie clad vixen is her understudy who took the rehersal opportunity to rig the illusion so that it actually cuts Ann in half thus leaving an opening in the act for her to take her place and finally get the stage exposure she's always dreamed of.

I didn't notice the sawblade either until you pointed it out. I was wondering what was supposed to happen also. It might be better if the sawblade wasn't spinning, it would be easier to spot as a sawblade. Either that or make it more metallic so it doesn't blend in with the table.

Edit: Looking at it a bit more, it might help if the understudy were looking directly at the sawblade, in the picture she appears to be looking at something off screen to the right. If she were staring at the blade, it might clue us better what we should be looking at.

The sawblade is not very easy to see (especially for me who has very bad eyesight) but I kind of guessed it was going to be something like that anyhow from the posture of the two figures

I took your suggestions and rerendered:

Much better at least for my comprehension of the picture, thanks. I can think of one other thing that would have made the first one work for me, you generally don't use it in your pictures though. Adding a "buzzsaw" sound to it would have made that spinning blade work. bzzzzzz...

Being that there are other people who have seen this thread now, I'm just curious if Xj and I were the only obtuse ones, and everybody else figured out that first picture

No telling. I really don't like that sawblade with it's fake metal reflection. I used a grouping tool in Poser to save it as a prop then brought it into Daz and scaled it to fit. It was part of a Davo set called MadLab4. I'm going to try one more thing, however. I found a freebie at renderhub called a spinning propellor that shows promise. I'm not sure yet if I'll try and alter the transparency map or possibly just place it in front of a blade like an overlay. I'll post the result.

Nope, i didn't notice it either till it was pointed out. Thanks for re-rendering, much better now!

Yup, that buzz-saw is a lot easier to see, now. Hate to think what happens when it starts up again...

I didn't see it either, but my eyes don't work too good. I thought it was gonna be like the knife throwing gag where they just barely miss the person.

The propellor blade didn't work out.

Honestly I don't think there is anything wrong with that first picture except there is nothing that draws our eyes to that blade. Once we know what it is it is easily recognizable. If you had put the story with it, or added a sound effect or anything else that would make us focus on it, it would have worked. Maybe if you took the original one and moved it up into the same position you have the second one, that would do it, or change the viewing angle slightly. I do like the spinning one better than the still one, I think you were on the right track there.
