I knew i should have picked up that 5090 system that was on sale at Amazon for $4200 for Christmas, LOL

It's complicated. Corporations exist to make a profit. So yeah "greed" if you want to look at it that way. In this case most of the increased cost is due to rising RAM prices and that's from AI datacenter expansion, they use a lot of RAM. So without having looked into it further, it may not be a price hike on NVIDIA's part - the price of their chips may well be unchanged, it's the cost of the DRAM 7 that they don't make that is driving it. And a GPU needs dedicated RAM.

NVIDIA is an immensely profitable company, made remarkable by the fact that up to now video card manufacturers have not done well over time. NVIDIA found another market for GPU's, actually two, the first one was bit coin mining which isn't video display either.

But I'd blame this rise on the greed of companies getting into AI, not NVIDIA itself.

Agreed. I am all for capitalism and companies going where the money is, but not if it means they neglect the customers that got them to where they are before these opportunities. If Nvidia wanted to take care of regular customers along with the data centers they could, they just don't want to IMO
