Seriously? the animal kingdom is all about promiscuity . Animals don't reason, they just precreate and reproduce. While some stay with only one mate, herd animals are total sluts, LOL If it wasn't for hunting and predators, I would want to be a bull elk in my next life, they get all the hot female elks, LOL

They do, they just don't live particularly long lives. Perhaps I should have put it differently, if your goal is reproduction, yeah nature likes promiscuity. If your goal is living to old age, it doesn't.

Now whether living to old age is a particularly valuable goal, that's a philosophical issue. Eat right, exercise regularly, and get dementia in your 60's well...

Bottom line though is historically there have been a lot of really bad diseases you could avoid entirely if you weren't promiscuous. A number of them respond well to antibiotics. Between that and effective birth control, ie "the pill", the sixties were one of those rare times in history where the downside of multiple sex partners was lessened. AIDS brought that to a screeching halt for a while.
 
The spice of 'Natural Selection' is variety. All species need to reproduce as widely as possible, to 'spread the net' so to speak. Last thing we want is in-breeding, just look at the number of horror movies featuring psychopathic inbreeds...
