Word limit for writing forums.

Quick suggestion - you might want to clarify the word limit for the writing forums. I tried to add a chapter from my novel in the General category and it said I only had a 1000 word-limit so I ended up posting a scene instead. FYI, my first chapter had just over 2000 words.

The clarification might prevent any frustration in posting like I went through.
 
Currently it is 10,000 characters. Xenforo doesn't do it by word. What would you like me to bump it to? There is a performance hit if you take it too high, "too high" isn't defined as anything. Will 20,000 characters do?

Hmm, I was thinking of publishing some of my written material here, but the chapters are long and regularly exceed 10,000 characters Mr Otto
Perhaps you should temporarily switch off the word limit, just to see what happens - if the posts get too long and unweidly then perhaps you will need to think again?

I think there needs to be a limit per post, I do think 10,000 characters is too low. How many characters are in your average story? Word will tell you both character and word count. Give me a number ;)

Well my stories usually tend to be 5-6 pages of Microsoft Word per chapter. Just totted one up and that' averaging aroudn 34,000 characters per chapter.

OK, I'll set it for 50K to give you some wiggle room. If turns out to still not be enough let me know. Taking care of it now.

I don't have editing restricted, you can fix that first one the way you want. I think anyway, the new limit should apply to it. But do it any way you want. Let me know if you still run into issues.
