Incidentally, I priced an Apple M4 iMac for shits and giggles last night (I own an M1 Macbook Air and love it). I could get a fully specced iMac for $2800, which includes 32 GB of unified memory and 2 TB of storage. My 3-yr-old PC cost me $3500 in parts, the most expensive component being my 3090 for $1750.

I never invested in NVIDIA, for which I could kick myself, I'm usually pretty good about picking tech stocks. I think the reason is I always looked at them as a video card manufacturer and that business has had a lot of failures over the years.

The point of NVIDIA though is they branched out into many more applications for their cards, first bitcoin, then AI, and AI is of course a whole lot more than making pictures of people with three fingers.

But yeah, when your video card is over half the cost of your PC... times have sure changed.

Yeah, makes me wonder what the future holds for PC users that rely on high end cards. There is no way I can justify the price of a 4090 or a 5090 as much as I want one. I have been using MimicPC for flux uncensored for .49 an hour since it gives me access to a 24 gig card and I can crank out flux images pretty quick. I still use Krea to flash out scenes and get the prompts and variations down which takes time, then once i get a working workflow, I go to MimicPC and knock it. The refine everything in Fooocus still. I'd love to have a 5090 state of the art system, but can't justify the price with all my real world financial obligations

As most of you know, I’m a Mac user from way back and while I love using it (I’m currently using a 10th gen iPad), I find that there are certain things you can’t do on a Mac that is widely used with a PC.(filament being one example).

That’s not to say I’m switching to PC. I’ll stick to Mac since I know my way around it. 🙂

I used a Mac when i was doing game design since the studio had them. Never really liked them, but then again that was a long time ago, they are probably better now. Luckily I can't think of any reasons to make me switch
