It's too big

Nah, I was just completing the saga of getting a computer my Gigabyte GTX 5090 card would fit in. The smaller computer on the left is the one it wouldn't fit. That big honking card in the middle of the picture is the video card. Those damned things are up over $5,000 these days, and it was sitting around as a paperweight since December because I didn't have a machine it would fit in. It's the one I got from JohnM before the prices went through the roof.

haha Gotcha.

Anyway, I need sleep. Been coding and making renders literally all last afternoon/evening/night, and it's now 7:30am the next day.

That would be a good trick, and I'd consider trying it but you have no idea how big and heavy those 5090's are, I've had whole desktops that weighed less than they do.

Way to rub it in that I don't have one lol.

Btw I remember the craziness when the first GeForce FX came out. The comparisons to vacuum cleaners, space heaters and jet engines. Later things have calmed down quite a bit on the GPU front so I didn't think we'll get back to those times, but still, even the monsters of today still ain't topping that.

Either way, I'm still waiting for my Chinese $200 NVMe slot AI accelerator with 5W power drain. Btw have you heard that AMD has acquired that company that wanted to make model-specific hardware accelerators? I believe I was talking about it in the past, as potential cheap tech. Now I dunno if AMD has bought them to smother the competition, or to come out with something like it themselves.

Companies are acquiring about everything and if they are anything like the company I once worked for they have no idea of what they are going to do with it.

I bought that 5090 from JohnM back in December, 9 months ago. He bought more than he could use and wanted to unload one. The cost today, 9 months later is triple what I paid for it.

That's how bad it is getting.

The whole thing has to collapse at some point. The only question is how much of the world economy collapses with it.
